This is a screen shot captured on February 27, 2010 as one of the Redding, California bald eagles shifts and re-arranges the nest. The three eggs are visible. Thank you to Caltrans staff for providing incredible still shots captured on the video cam and bringing this moment to us. And the added bonus of Eagle Cam Blog providing interpretive information.
Now it's just a wait and see game. As is typical, the first egg laid should be the first to hatch sometime in late March. If we are lucky and it's a three-peat of last years events, eggs two and three should follow days later. Then it becomes survival of the fittest. The 2009 eaglets -- Freedom, Hope, and Spirit -- survived against the odds and were just ready to fledge when the Eagle Cam went down. Cross all fingers and toes that 2010 will bring us images of that final moment when this next generation of bald eagles heads for the sky.
